Im getting ready to leave for bootcamp. Does anyone have any advise?

Im 17 yrs old and Im getting ready to leave for Navy bootcamp and I am so nervous. My main fears are all of the shots you get, PT and being away from home. Is there anyone who has been to Navy Basic recently and has any helpful advise?!?Im getting ready to leave for bootcamp. Does anyone have any advise?
Try not to dwell so long on the vaccinations. I think I psyched myself out thinking about it. The way we were given our shots, we didn't see how they were doing it until we were right at the door.

Like everyone else said, start your exercising now. Try to get to the standard fitness level that you'll need to pass.

Try to get along with the people in your flight and stay the Hell away from the drama. (This is probably obvious)You do not want to have enemies. I've seen and heard of people being sabotaged by their fellow flight mates. It's a pathetic thing to do, but unfortunately some people your age just lack the civility to handle situations.

I went through BMT for a different branch, so I don't know when they actually issue you your uniform, but I would wear old shoes just in case they have you march somewhere. I wore some boots that aren't made for marching in(They had really deep grooves on the soles) and the heels were pretty much destroyed from doing facing movements on the road.

You can look through military.com's forum for more information

1. Don't be early.

2. Don't ever be late for anything!!! EVER!!!

3. Never, ever, ever, ever, ever volunteer for ANYTHING!!!

Don't worry about the shots, I saw brawny guys faint dead away at a simple poke with a needle. Hurts less than getting your ears pierced.

The PT? If you are in any decent shape at all you should do ok.

Being away from home? You're going to be too busy (or too tired) to worry about home. (p.s. Write home as often as you can...Keeping your loved ones informed of your activities can often be as helpful as getting mail from home).

You have my respects. God Bless and Godspeed!
Decode this lyrics '; Do what you do, do it well';

When in the real world.

Stay in line.

Don't mess up in the real world.

Then you be safe.
Start exercising rigorously now so boot camp won't be so bad. The quicker you lose your self-identity and become part of the military family, the better off you will be.

Shots aren't bad.
TRUST ME, THEY DO NOT PT YOU THAT HARD!! BOOT CAMP WAS SO EASY... MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO BE CAREFUL OF THE FOOD THEY SERVE YOU!! IM SO NOT JOKING, BUT IN NAVY BOOT CAMP, DURING MEALS, THERE WILL BE THESE LADIES WALKING AROUND WITH TRAYS OF STUFF LIKE COOKIES AND ICE CREAM ON THEM. DONT GAIN 20 POUNDS LIKE I DID. IT TOOK ME 6 MONTHS TO GET THAT WEIGHT OFF :( LOL... AND AS FOR THE SHOTS, I DONT KNOW HOW TO HELP YOU THERE, JUST TAKE IT LIKE A CHAMP. WHAT THEY DO IS, YOU WALK DOWN THIS AISLE AND THERE WILL BE PEOPLE WAITING ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT WAITING TO GIVE YOU SHOTS!! ITS SO TERRIBLE!! AND YES YOU ARE GOING TO BE AWAY FROM HOME BUT THE GOOD THING IS THAT MAIL CALL IS EVERY NIGHT AND YOU CAN WRITE HOME EVERY SUNDAY DURING HOLDIAY ROUTINE. ANYWAY, GOOD LUCK!!
Lol!

PT in the Navy isn't hard unless you don't know how to run or can't do situps or pushups. As for the shots - they are done in less than a minute depending on what you have to get. The only one that really sucks is the ';peanut butter'; shot. (It really does feel like they injected you with ';peanut butter';.) Don't psyche yourself out! Try to get a job on Div staff! (You don't have to stand watches then - so more sleep for you!) Being away from home does suck and after 8 weeks you feel like you've been in RTC forever. But don't cry it's not worth tears or the yelling at you might get from your female RDC who does not believe in crying! Here's helpful hints:

- Know your 10 general orders inside and out: up and down right and left - its much easier if you know them all before you get there it saves on pushups and eight counts.

-Don't get involved in the DRAMA!!! Okay I cannot emphasize this enough - stay away from that and don't even bother trying to get a boyfriend or whatever - it isn't worth it.

-Learn your rank structure before you go so you can save yourself a lot of pushups by calling a Senior Chief, Chief or a Chief, Petty Officer or god forbid an officer, chief.

-And the most important thing is this: You enlisted to do a job. Don't bother trying to get a date or some loving. You are there to do a job, just do your job. There will be plenty of time to live through the drama and all that jazz in the fleet. Just get out of boot camp.

PS - Don't go to sick call if you can help it. It'll set you back, and drink lots of milk - it's good to prevent shin splints and stress fractures. I'm talking about 3 glasses a day.
Just remember that your drill instructors are people too, don't take the things they say or do too seriously, and always remember that it is going to end soon enough, just keep your head down and your mouth shut, you'll do fine...
Follow instructions, don't stand out from the crowd, don't take anything the TIs say personally, you will probably get attitude from everyone. Don't take any of it personally. Be orderly with your stuff. Keep everything clean and neat.
Don't go.
The boot camp these days is like going to a spa. So just enjoy the free ride.....
