Does anyone have advise on where to plant my walking orchids and how to care for them ?

I couldn't find anything specifically on the walking orchid. I think you might have the name wrong. This was the closest thing I found:

I think you were right in asking about IRIS.... the walking iris is well known in the south, esp around Louisiana.....

orchids live in the crooks of trees... they don't 'walk'.....the lady got it wrong from whoever SHE got them from, I'd guess....
