i want to get maybe a maltese or something any advise?I want to get some type of little dog like a pomeranian any advise?
Shelter mutt!

They are temperment tested, inexpensive and come with lots of ';extras';.

They seem more ';grateful'; than other dogs. They know how bad life can get.

If you must have a pure breed, look up Tibetian Spaniels.

They are pretty much perfect. Loving, quiet (they don't yap), not super ';high maintenence'; like other dogs, and absolute sweethearts.I want to get some type of little dog like a pomeranian any advise?
I got my pom at the dog shelter - he's sitting by me right now and is a great dog. Try the shelter on a regular basis - they get small breeds all the time.

The best advice I can give you about any dog is to groom him and take food away from him. If the dog growls or tries to bite, he will continue these unacceptable behaviors in the future.

My previous pom was so mean and aggressive that my son called him ';crackhead'; - he once bit me so hard that he punctured my thumbnail.
Poms have bad knees, but are very sweet with other dogs and children if you raise them together. Both breeds you mention are high maintainance. grooming and such every 4-6 weeks. I would do lots of research on the a few different breeds that you are interested in. Their temperment, health issues, the best environment for them, make sure that you get a dog that fits your lifestyle. Then when you decide on a breed, if you choose to buy from an individual, make sure you get as much info as you can on the parents of the pups. make sure they are healthy and nice dogs. if you choose a pet shot or the shelter, make sure the puppy has had shots and is healthy. dogs that come from here usually have colds and upper respiratory infections, or other more serious problems so beware. i would pick an individual breeder that has done it for a long time... that is where you can find a good healthy dog.
I have a maltese that I got from a rescue....he is precious. He was born without a tail at the expense of puppy mill breeders. He was lucky as well as his sibblings that we had to bug them all to get them away from the breeder.

Any way.....Maltese, Pom, Shih Tzu are excellent. I have a Shih Tzu also. Highly recommended. You can get a maltest from the petfinders.com site. There are plenty that need homes, babies thru adult dogs. Hope this helps honey %26amp; good luck on your baby search. They make a house a home!
first yorkies are the only dogs that dont shed and their little . maltese and pomeranies arent good dogs they are needy and they bark alot
Pomeranians are great little dogs! I have raised a lot of toy breeds and they are by far one of the smartest toy breeds I have had. They are very easy to train, loving, and very friendly. On the negative side, they do require frequent grooming, attention, and they can be fairly noisy. Toy poodles and miniature dachshunds are also great little dogs. Excellent temperament, obedient, and relatively low maintenance. All of these dogs require little exercise so, if you live in the city, you don't have to have a huge backyard. Puppyfind.com has a lot of good info on different dog breeds for you to choose from. The best thing is to find the best breed that suits your lifestyle and find a reputable breeder. Good luck with your new puppy!
Go to your local animal shelter or Humane Society. They regularly get little dogs, such as dachshunds, chihuahuas, and sometimes breeds like Pomerianians.

Do NOT go to a breeder. For every dog bought from a breeder or pet store, hundreds of unwanted dogs are euthanized in dog shelters because there is not enough room to keep them all to wait to be adopted.
Research both breeds so you don't end up with a dog that you don't like.
